To the Hon B. B. Walker Chief Justice of the County Court
The petition of Catherine Ann Arnold her next friend Joel P. Tate comes humbly
complaining and showing unto your Honor that her father J. B. Arnold a citizen
of said county who is her Natural Guardian has outraged her feelings and is for
divers causes and reasons which will be shown to your Honor at the proper time
incompetent and unfit for the duties of her Guardian. She further represents
that she is over the age of 14 years and is desirous of choosing a Guardian to
protect her subject to the approval of your Honor wherefore the prayers that
your Honor will permit her to choose a Guardian subject to your Honor's approval
and that said J. B. Arnold be cited to show cause if any he can why her prayers
may not be granted. and of the hearing and final determination for such other
special and general relief in the promises as to your Honor may serve meet and
just the causes being considered and as in duty bound she will ever pray. as

Greetings
You are hereby commanded to summons J. B. Arnold to be and appear before the
Hon. Judge of the County Court at the next regular term of said court to be
holden in the court house in the town of Halletsville on the last Monday in
September AD 1858 to show cause if any he can why the prayers of C. A. Arnold by
her next friend J. T. Tate in her petition should not be granted. herein fail
not and have you there this citation showing thereof how you have executed the
same.
Given under my hand and Seal of Office at Office in the Town of Halletsville
this 7th day of September 1858.
