Albert Douglas Blackstone

Bert Blackstone was born in Victoria, Texas on
October 22, 1908 to
Benjamin
and Laura
Arnold Blackstone. He was a member of the First
Baptist Church in Andrews, Texas and a member of
the Pipe fitter's Union, Local 398 of Pomona,
California for thirty years. In his early years
he was a cowboy in West Texas and participated
in some of the last cattle drives in that area.
In later years, his trade in pipefitting led him
to travel in many states including Idaho, New
Mexico, Illinois, Texas, Washington, Louisiana,
and California. He was an amateur historian,
primarily of the Southwestern United States. He
enjoyed fellowship with family and friends and
his hobbies included gardening and fishing.
He was married for fifty-five years to Beatrice
Gray Blackstone. He had one son, Albert Douglas
Blackstone, Jr.
Albert Douglas Blackstone died at the age of 78
on August 1, 1987. He was buried on August 4,
1987 at Coachella Valley Cemetery, Coachella,
California.
