Albert Douglas Blackstone "Bert" was the 2nd child of Benjamin & Laura Blackstone.

Albert Douglas Blackstone Sr. "Bert"
78, of Indio, CA passed away at a local convalescent hospital on August 1, 1987.  He was born in Victoria, Tx on October 22, 1908 to the Benjamin & Laura (Arnold) Blackstone.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews, Tx  & a member of the Pipe Fitter's Union, Local 398 of Pomona, CA for thirty years.  In his early years he was a cowboy in West Texas and participated in some of the last cattle drives in that area.  In later years, his trade in pipe fitting led him to travel in many states including Idoho, NM, IL, TX, Wash, Louis & CA.  He was a amateur historian, primarily of the Southwestern United States.  He enjoyed fellowship with family, friends & his hobbies included gardening & fishing. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beatrice Gray Blackstone, one son Albert Douglas Blackstone Jr., Brothers Robert (Bob) & Jimmie (Jim) of TX,  Sisters, Jesse & Alice of TX  &  Josie of MT, and many Neices & Nephews.  
Fitzhenry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  Graveside services were held Tuesday, August 4 , 1987, at Coashella Balley Cemetery, Coachella, CA.
